French national Philippe Bonnot has been appointed General Manager of the Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, managed by Mövenpick Hotels Resorts. After completing three years in the position of General Manager at Mövenpick Tower Suites Doha, Philippe assumes the leading role at the Ibn Battuta Gate, a five-star hotel, cleverly inspired by the journeys of the 14th century celebrated Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta.
With a career in the hotel industry spanning over 25 years, Bonnot has an impressive professional path that has taken him across the globe from his native France to England, French Polynesia, Switzerland and Qatar, Bonnot is set to be right at home in the UAE ‘s cosmopolitan working and living environment .
Prior to joining Mövenpick Hotels Resorts, Bonnot has held the General Manager’s position in a selection of hotels for Le Méridien group including Cochin Convention centre in India, Hôtel Le Méridien Heliopolis, Egypt and Hôtel Le Méridien Bruxelles, Belgium. During his 10 years in Le Méridien Bonnot was involve in major projects within each hotel ranging from effective cost saving plans, tackling new markets, reaching high scores on both employee satisfaction surveys and guest satisfaction indexes.
With multiple international degrees in food and beverage and hotel management along with years of practical and on the ground experience, Bonnot is known for his sales and marketing skills and development strategies and as well building management and employee relationships.

Bonnot’s main plans to continue growing the hotel in its feeder markets and making sure that guest satisfaction stays the main focus of the team. One of Bonnot’s favorite activities’ is arranging cultural events for the guests at his hotels to show them a bit of the history and the heritage of the country that they visit and bring that tradition to the hotel “Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel is already a cultural heritage itself having been themed around the travels of Ibn Battuta, I plan to focus on this aspect even more and make sure the guest get to experience the true legacy of Dubai at the gate” Bonnot continued.
Bonnot is fluent in French, English and Spanish and has moved to Dubai with his wife and two children.
As the global hospitality industry continues to ponder the pace of business, Mövenpick Hotels Resorts, in partnership with real estate developer, Seven Tides, opens more than 1,200 rooms over four properties in Dubai, UAE.
The 396-room Ibn Battuta Gate Hotel, is cleverly inspired by the journeys of the 14th century Arabian explorer, Ibn Battuta himself. The hotel is located in ‘New Dubai’ opened its doors to business and leisure travellers in October 2010.
The 216-room Mövenpick Hotel Deira opened in January 2011. Situated in the commercial hub of Diera, close to the Dubai Creek and Dubai Airport, the hotel is perfectly situated for business visitors and short stay leisure guests as well as weekend shoppers and small meeting groups.
During winter 2011, the Asian-inspired Royal Amwaj Resort Spa on Palm Jumeirah will be ready to open. The 293-room resort will be shortly be announcing some ‘industry firsts’, including an upscale all-inclusive package available through preferred travel partners.2012 will also witness the opening of the contemporary Oceana Hotel Spa. Seven Tides’ second property located on Dubai’s Palm Jumeirah will open 324 rooms at the Oceana Beach Club, which has already opened a popular restaurant-bar venue, West 14th, the New-York Grill and Bar. Both the club and the restaurant opened for business during the summer of 2010 and like the hotel are set to deliver great family entertainment.
